The same year, Bugge Wesseltoft approached the trio after a concert, inviting them to make their album debut at his label Jazzland Recordings. This resulted in the critically acclaimed "Night Driver" released in 2006, produced by Bugge Wesseltoft himself. Quoting norwegian critic Terje Mosnes of Dagbladet: "Ola Kvernberg delivers 45 minutes of «violin jazz» different from anything heard to the world."

"...a far reaching orchestra clearly capable of handling anything and everything that's put in front of it."
John Kelman, All About Jazz

Trondheim Jazz Orchestra is one of the most important and creative jazz ensembles in Norway. During the course of the last ten years, the orchestra has had a great number of exciting projects with norwegian and international jazz profiles such as Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Joshua Redman, Erlend Skomsvoll and Eirik Hegdal. Trondheim Jazz Orchestra celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2010. Among the highlights of the year was the anniversary tour with Chick Corea in Norway and Sweden and the releases of the cd's "stems and cages" by TJO & Kim Myhr and "Triads and More" by TJO & Eirik Hegdal w/ special guest Joshua Redman. In March 2011 TJO made their "European debut" when they toured Germany and Austria with Hegdal and Redman. The orchestra belongs to the Mid-Norway Centre of Jazz who initiates and organises new projects. The orchestra is operated as a musicians' pool, so that the orchestra changes as to instrumentation and size from project to project. This gives room for great width in the repertory. The musicians that has been involved in the orchestra is among Norway's most famous jazz profiles.

Gammaldans, a genre in norwegian folk music, seems to have surprisingly many similarities with traditional american bluegrass music. The musical language of norwegian gammaldans is based on many of the same codes of harmonic and rythmic movements. Norwegian gammaldans has been, and still is (like its "cousin" bluegrass), music played in intimate settings with both listening and dancing audiences. But: why is there so little improvisation in norwegian folk music? Gammalgrass insist on finding out! ..and while they're at it, they'll throw in whatever comes to their mind. Stian is well known as norways most multi-talented musician, and has had great success with his award-winning band Farmers Market. Ola and Stian also occationally appears as a duo.

After more than 6 years of touring, Gammalgrass finally got around to record their first (!) album. It will be released on Division Records in april 2013.
